Course Outline

This course will provide delegates with an opportunity to get "hands-on" experience of the different foreign exchange products.

They will leave the course feeling comfortable with the pricing issues of foreign exchange, and understanding the nature of the market players and the factors that affect sentiment.

In addition, delegates will have a good base understanding of the management, regulation and control issues.

The mathematical relationship to money markets
Economics of foreign exchange and forecasting methods
Overview of technical analysis (charting)
The significance of foreign exchange management within a treasury

  economic risk

 Foreign Exchange Futures
The role of this product and arbitrage opportunities examined
Day-to-day control and maintenance of futures

 S.A.F.E.
An overview of this OBS foreign exchange product
FXAs and ERAs compared

 Foreign Exchange Options
Basic option theory and the fundamentals of pricing
Volatility and its measurement
Option pricing issues
The use of options by Treasurers for hedging and position taking.
Risk and control and management issues (with reference to BIS
  guidelines)

 Exotic Foreign Exchange Options
Barrier options, lookbacks and average rate options
Pricing Issues

 Currency Swaps
The construction of currency swaps
The analysis of risk
Hedging and risk control techniques for banks and corporations, using
  swaps
How to meet the treasurer's need using swaps in combination with
  other products
Asset swaps

 Differential Swaps
Product construction and uses examined
Risk analysed and hedging techniques reviewed

 Product Overview
Re-examination of the products covered to highlight their
  inter-relationship
The organisation of a foreign exchange risk management regime
