Course Overview:
Participants will gain an understanding of how to identify operational risks, the processes to monitor and control them and the various techniques to reduce exposures, and decrease the potential impact of risks.
They will also obtain an understanding of regulatory requirements and recommendations, an understanding of the operational risk frameworks and governance models used globally.
The seminar will cover people, process, systems and external event Operational Risk management, and participants will gain an appreciation of the mitigating actions available to managers. Participants will practice using of some of the tools employed to manage operational risk and work through a case study to appreciate warning signs and the multi-faceted impacts of operational risk events.
In addition, delegates will appreciate qualitative vs. quantitative approaches to managing and monitoring Operational Risk and approaches available to comply with regulations
The course will enable participants to appreciate the value of various kinds of reporting, monitoring and Risk and Control Assessments as an operational risk management approach as well as the interaction with other control functions and management actions required to proactively reduce the likelihood of risk events.
On completion of the course participants should have an appreciation of the value of Operational Risk frameworks and tools, engendering an operational risk culture, and the measurements and capital constraints that are used to contain operational risk within the appetite defined by the organisation.
